Why a trendblog for the textile business?

28-04-2018 in NEXT WAVE

Cipria by Fernando and Humberto Campana

The reason is obvious: the textile business is one of the driving industries behind furniture design and interior decoration.

Fernando and Humberto Campana’s “Boa and Cipria” sofas would not have been so iconic without the exceptional upholstery. The nicely curved “Ploum Chair” of the Bouroullec brothers would have been impossible to realize if it wasn’t for its super performance textile. Yet customers perceive little differentiation amongst B2B textile manufacturers. In fact most people only know a handful of textile designers and textile brands.

This blog is my humble attempt to take textile design out of the shadow and into the light. I will do so by presenting a vision on the future of interior design and investigating the role textile can play in it.
