Textile is enjoying a Renaissance! – Trends at MoOD in Hall 6
MoOD predicts (Re)naissance, the rebirth of textile. The trend book that follows the MoOD 2010 fair refers to the many crafts that have enjoyed revaluation in recent years. This suggests that textile, as a last ‘real’ craft, will also see a revival.
MoOD interprets the focus on more traditional textile products as the start of a revaluation of textiles. ‘To know it is to love it’, as the saying goes. And there are other parallels with the Renaissance: references to ancient cultures, nature and the rise of Homo Universalis, that is, the blend of art and science. Two scenarios for the future are expanded on in (Re)naissance: Memento Mori and KISS. One provides a concept for the unbridled luxury of the classic interior and the other a concept for modern architecture. Memento Mori is the credo that the classics lived by: live each day like your last, make life a celebration. KISS is an acronym for Keep it Simple Smart (not the design principle Keep it Simple, Stupid) since innovation and creativity are the engine of change. At MoOD, we call this ‘Crenovation’.
